Well we finally made it!
-11+ years in the making-
Our plan was to make this same voyage for our ten year anniversary; we had everything in place.....
finances, time, desire to go....Oh Yeah!!
As happens, life threw us some curve balls, two surgeries, one major life change for our daughter, too many projects to count at work and we were back on track for our once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Having been there now, we can see ourselves wanting to go back again and again to explore the other islands, so hopefully it won't really be once in a lifetime, sounds kinda ungrateful in retrospect, sorry J
And YES, we had fun!!!!
During our 7 days on the island we .....
• Visited 12+ beaches on the east, north and south shores.
• Tyson turned a few shades darker.
• We hiked Waimea Falls
• Tyson went swimming in Waimea falls.
• We hiked diamond head trail, not too bad
• We had "shave ice" on the North shore.
• We both learned to paddle board.
• We went snorkeling in Kaneohe Bay.
• We saw were pineapples come from
• Woke to the sound of tropical birds each morning
• We attended a session at the Laie Temple
• We went to the PCC and had our fist luau
• We ate Taro Pies at McDonalds
• We fell in love all over again
We were happily surprised to find that most of the beaches on the Windward side of the island were empty when we arrived. In fact the morning after our arrival, we couldn't really sleep so we drove our jeep up and down the coast looking at the phosphorescent green waves washing ashore. The water is so clear and algae free thatthe water really has no "ocean smell” to it; reminded us of the natural lakes high up in mountains of Idaho.
One of our favorite beaches to visit was just 10 minutes down the road from our resort, we must have stopped back here at least 3 times during our stay. The lack of kids fighting in the background or demanding our attention in the background ……well……you know where I am going…. We still love our kids, but it was great to get away.
Our water-view Lanai was a great place to unwind after those long days at the beach!
HAPPY VALENTINES
more pictures to come soon....
