Engineers and Car Repairs

Ok so there are a few facts about engineers that most people don't know about.

1) They think they can fix ANYTHING!
2) They know SOMEONE can with enough time and money
3) But engineers are CHEAP!
4) And because they are cheap they WON'T pay someone else to fix their stuff
5) They like to RESEARCH things to get good deals

Here is Ty's good deal: a $325.00 bumper cover primed and painted .

After getting (2) rediculous auto body quotes to repair our crunched bumper at a cost of $1100.00....Tyson found a local guy on ebay motors that custom paints bumper covers here in Houston.
The bumper cover and trim took about and hour to get off.
Even after looking at the weight savings, he determined that the new found fuel efficiency just looked bad so the new cover just had to be installed.
So we all did our part to help him install the new bumper cover.
 Doesn't it look good!!??

I was so confused at first. The very first picture looks like Tyson is pulling a cat out of the car. Am I the only one that sees this?

I am also married to an Engineer and you are spot-on. We have had many a repair project that can seem obnoxious at the time, but I always end up being impressed when he pulls it off...and he always does.
Nice work, Tyson!

I gotta admit...it's not just engineers. Or even husbands. Last Saturday Rusty had to constrain himself from rolling his eyes at Michelle's DETERMINATION to tear apart the passenger door panel of the van and get that stinkin' window rolled up manually (since the window motor died). Michelle was stumped at the point where the door handle had to be removed with a special tool, but then invented a very "girly" tool out of a shoelace and clothing hook (the kind you find on bras, thank you very much)! It worked!! She got the door handle off, but was stumped when the next step required removing all of the rubber sealings around the window. She didn't want to mess with that, and called it quits.
And yes, she got it all put back together properly.

I'm glad you guys saw your project all the way through!

It looks great. I love when Brian can save us money by doing a repair himself. It's a good feeling.
