Brooklyn's Tube

Hey Everyone!
Here is our update on Brooklyn! Her surgery went well, and she came out like a trooper! We had a friend give brooklyn a book about going to the hospital. In the story all the kids are happy and playing in the recovery room, and now I can say for a fact that it is probably the most unhappy room in the Hospital. I was glad we didn't have to stay long as we got to be admitted for a few nights in our own happy room :) The hospital brought around carts full of movies to watch, crafts to make and toys to play with, but mostly Brooklyn just slept and we saved them. A HUGE thanks to Dad who sent Mom, Elizabeth and Alyssa! Wow I can't say enough how fun it was to have them here and what a comfort to know they were home with our kiddos so Tyson could spend a lot of time with me and Brooklyn in the Hospital. We came home to a house filled with decorations and balloons!! Brooklyn Loves it! We wish we could give Alyssa as much attention in the Hospital this next few weeks in Utah too. Hang In there ALyssa! here are some pics for those who are curious! The part on her tummy is called a "button" that opens and closes- WE hook it up to a tube that contiunuously feeds her during the night. During the day we get to do a "Bolus feeding" Where we use a small tube and use a syringe to give a larger amount quickly. Her Teacher brought her a doll that has a real feeding tube button and tube in it (her daughter is on a feeding tube also) so Brooklyn can feed her doll all by herself! WE have been SOoo blessed through all of this and have felt all the prayers in our behalf- THank YOu!

The Button all by itself. It actually is very much like a beach ball valve going side to side- the round parts are two "spacers" underneath it that will be removed as she gains weight.

Brooklyn "Feeding" her dol!

Hooked up to the continuous feed

Oooh, poor baby, but the pictures are great, it is nice to be able to see what you are talking about. I hope that she starts gaining weight soon and her little body can start to heal.

Ah now I feel bad making you basically tell me everything on the phone instead of just reading it. Oops.

That's crazy-isn't it amazing what they can do these days? I'm so glad that we have technology like this for your little Brooklyn! What a trooper!
